The Palace of Castemar

The world is civilized. The old gods of chaos and destruction were defeated thousands of years ago, and the Golden Order Pantheon is firmly in command of the plane. Physical manifestations of the gods travel freely among the Grand Empires, ensuring the laws are just, punishment is swift, and peace is maintained at all costs. It’s left life rather boring for the young and restless. However, there is one place the avatars of the Golden Order will not travel… the Cursed Lands of Worrel, a continent isolated and ignored. It is there that adventurers flock in search of excitement and treasure.

Sentinel of the Golden Order

A World in Flux

While it wasn’t always referred to as the “cursed lands,” the crumbling of countless empires and would-be princedoms within the broad plains of Worrel have left no doubt that the lands are indeed cursed, even if no one can definitely say what that curse might entail or who might have been responsible. And while each successive generation of adventurers have returned home to the quiet lands with artifacts of gold and silver, sold to vendors for sums beyond imagination, most of the eager have not returned at all.

Even the most stable kingdoms inevitably fall in the Cursed Lands. History has shown us that it’s better to stay hidden than mighty.
